According to The New York Times, Noam Chomsky is “arguably the most important intellectual alive.” But he isn’t easy to read…or at least he wasn’t until these books came along. Made up of intensively edited speeches and interviews, they offer something not found anywhere else: pure Chomsky, with every dazzling idea and penetrating insight intact, delivered in clear, accessible, listener-friendly prose.
Published as four short books in the famous Real Story series - What Uncle Sam Really Wants; The Prosperous Few and the Restless Many; Secrets, Lies and Democracy; and The Common Good - they’ve collectively sold almost 600,000 copies. And they continue to sell year after year after year because Chomsky’s ideas become, if anything, more relevant as time goes by. For example, 20 years ago, he pointed out that “in 1970, about 90% of international capital was used for trade and long-term investment - more or less productive things - and 10% for speculation. By 1990, those figures had reversed.” As we know, speculation continued to increase exponentially. We’re paying the price now for not heeding him them.

Thank you for this. Chomsky is extremely rational and extremely clear - the reason I dislike listening to him is that he makes stark how little I am personally doing to improve things. We will be the poorer for his passing when it comes.

LOL Chomsky was never the best person to ask about how the world works … but ok …

Noam Chomsky is to the left what David Duke is to the right.
He hates today’s establishment but wants us to go back to the old establishment he also hated so much.
He eagerly issues CO2 death threats to billions of innocent children with childish glee despite science never saying it was proven so are they also only 99% sure the planet isn’t flat?
He says nothing as fellow progressives fight for Orwellian hate speech laws, the same hate speech laws that would have disallowed us saying FREE THE SLAVES.
He says nothing as progressives judge everyone by skin color & gender.
He says nothing as peace loving liberals hate speak 63 million Trump voters as racists.

Imagine, believing the earth is flat…
Go to a field. Draw a triangle on the ground, as big as you can, 150-300ft sides, then measure the sum of the angles.
A do-it-yourself experiment. Maybe you will learn something.
